We travel with a thirteen-year-old boy as his life takes a dramatic turn towards the end of the seventh grade school year. When he begins a bittersweet but romantic relationship with his Italian homeroom teacher, which incredibly spans thru out seven states and lasts a year and a half. This is not your ordinary teacher and student relationship.
She is married but has no children and owns an after-school program/ organization.
The program is to help underprivileged gifted students stay away from the negativity in their drug and crime infested urban city by encouraging them to do fundraisers, so they can go on educational and fun trips in & out of state.
Many of the children even have sleep overs on the weekends at the teacher's house, which is located on 2 acres of land and everything seems very normal and at first, it even changes the lives' of all the children involved in the program for the better, as she helps the students focus on the future and prepares them for college. Ghetto kids hang out being inspired by the middle class. For parents working two & three jobs, who don't get much time to spend with they kids.
this teacher is an angel on earth. She is very encouraging, motivational and a true leader. She truly wants the best for the children.
BUT The motivational and enjoyable park ride is becoming a field full of mental landmines.
The boy's life changes when the teacher takes his virginity during an out of state camping trip after many many months of her flirtatious behavior. the boy even starts feeling emotions of jealousy and hatred against the teacher's husband.
The more time they spend together the more they fall in love. They even make plans to run away and start a family together. She becomes his shoulders to cry on, his best friend, his lover and his everything. but at the same time also being his mentor and a mother figure. They have a 20-year age difference, but even crazier are the mental landmines that the young boy and children are stepping on not understanding how these trips with the teacher will affect their lives later on.
"what happens on these trips and weekends is unbelievable."
The school employees become suspicious of the trips and the romantic relationship after many rumors and additional suspicion from some of the organization's students.
All hell breaks loose when the police are called, the relationship is investigated, and the boy's mental land mines begin to explode the more he lies and denies the truth.
It's easy to call them forbidden and harder to call them soulmates. Yet they undoubtedly believe they truly are Soulmates.
how will they survive?
